LIFE DRAWING - 15 MINUTE PORTRAIT

These are the final drawings we did in the last week. They were both 15 minute portraits. I think these drawings came out okay. With longer poses such as these, I find that I finish too quickly because I prefer drawing fast, so I end up doodling around the image or trying to add too much definition or shade which can potentially end up ruining the drawing.

I'm still very bad at drawing hands and feet and is something that is haunting me. I just find the shapes of hands especially very hard to accurately capture. I must work harder on that.

LIFE DRAWING - LAST WEEK

In addition to thinking back on what we had done in the previous weeks, we were asked to think about triangular shapes within the poses we were drawing. I wasn't sure what I was doing at first but then understood how it helped towards the end of the class.

I like the strength contained in the pose in the bottom right corner

The image in the top right (above) must be having some back pains. I like this one

Although I reverted back to my regular way of drawing for some reason, I like the pose in the top center. Looks like he's just ran and leaped out of a burning building.

LIFE DRAWING - WEEK 3

This week, we were asked to try and draw using Lines of Action whilst labeling out the apex of concave and convex curves.

I like the look of curiosity/nervousness in the bottom right pose (above)

I like the angle and perspective in the drawing located in the top right (above)

We were asked to try and draw with our opposite and weaker hand. The image below is one of the outcomes for that exercise.

Here, I was trying harder to create the pose using shape defining curves. I particularly like the one in the top right because of I think the curves do a decent job at suggesting what is happening as the mind fills the rest of the image.

LIFE DRAWING - WEEK 2

I had a some stronger outcomes during this week. Dan taught us about Convex and Concave curves and got us to try and not to draw without outlines but with a series of curves that make up the pose or the essence of the pose

LIFE DRAWING - WEEK 1

My life drawing from Week 1. These are 1 minute and 2 minute sketches. I'm relatively focused on the outlines in these (and most of) my drawings, and they are done with mostly confident continuous line. I like trying to draw without lifting my hand off the page very much.
